Who knew?
Living so close to a hospital we are accustomed to blue lights at night as silent ambulances amble past with the ill and infirm. No need for their sirens since there is no traffic required to move aside.
But police blue lights are less familiar and so more exciting as happened recently when four police cars and a van eased to a stop outside a house on our street – without sirens. On silent mode as it were, which also adds to the excitement because presumably they were intending to catch the occupants unawares.
