A boring update for anyone unless you’re waiting for your copy of Eclipsed -the envelopes arrive on Monday and I am sending books then pronto (once I get back from golf!)…
A day long photo shoot this week for my forthcoming run at the Edinburgh festival. It was a real team affair with Mrs H on camera duty. Harry doing a video-log of the day (yet to be seen).
To people who have ordered Eclipsed in the last week or so – my apologies for delay in dispatching.
I have copies of the book and they are signed, dedicated and ready – but… I have run out of envelopes. I know. A schoolboy error on my part but helps to explain why I am a comedian and not a businessman.
Tom is home for a few weeks ahead of his Homecoming world tour and naturally, his brothers are excited to have their big bro home. Paddy’s current mania is basketball and I haven’t the heart to explain to him that this is not a sport for the Holland stature. And Tom doesn’t help matters by deciding to buy Paddy his own basketball hoop for the garden. My garden!
Here’s a thing – at a garden centre today with my eldest son – I go for a mooch amongst the plants (as you do) – observing which plants I like and might like to take home with me – to kill, (eventually).
A few years after the DVD market for comedians has completely collapsed, yours truly is about to relaunch an hour long set he recorded a little while ago. The plan is to make it available as a download on this site (there is every possibility that this will not work) and to make it free for people buying Eclipsed as a thank you and also to give the story some perspective.
A longer blog today but worth it I hope…
Putting anything up for public consumption (or not) is always a very exposing thing to do. The shear amount of material available on-line means that huge numbers of books and blogs will find no readers, podcasts go unheard…
On a film set today courtesy of a Holland boy – but not Tom this time. Harry is directing a trailer for a prospective TV series. A crew of 25 including Sean on sound who worked on The Impossible and Ben Perkins, Tom’s acting coach from The Impossible. Paddy is acting. Nikki is on stills photography and I am generally being available for anything that needs doing.
Excited (and concerned) to announce that my run in Edinburgh is confirmed – The Voodoo Rooms Ballroom – 4.40pm on the Free Fringe – Aug 5 – 27th
The advice to kids is generally to follow your passion. Try and do for a living what you enjoy…
That said, when dental hygienists were children, do you think they enjoyed brushing their teeth?
