BAFTA and Burberry Pick 17 Breakthrough Brits
Names on the inaugural list include actor Tom Holland (“The Impossible”), filmmaker Rowan Athale and writer Dominic Mitchell (TV’s “In the Flesh”).
LONDON – Actor Tom Holland, who appeared in The Impossible alongsideNaomi Watts and Ewan McGregor, is among the 17 names picked for the inaugural British Academy of Film and Television Arts Breakthrough Brits, in partnership with Burberry.
The 17 newcomers were handpicked by a jury for BAFTA and Burberry as people “who are making a name for themselves within film, television or games.”
The chosen few also included writer-director Rowan Athale, whose debut feature Wasteland played at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival and TV writerDominic Mitchell, who wrote In the Flesh for the BBC.
Jury members included Felicity Jones (The Invisible Woman), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables) and Shane Meadows.
