I’m in Hong kong at the moment – and as I travelled around the place yesterday, a thought occured to me.
I have bought the equivalent of our Oyster card to get around on their tube. It cost about a tenner and is set to last me about 3 days, possibly 4. Their tube system is much like ours, only ridiculously efficient and obviously costs a fraction of what we pay.
In HK – they pay no VAT and 10% income tax and they have one of the highest GDP’s in the world. The place is thriving.
Question then – How do they it?
Or perhaps more pressing – why do we do it as we do?
