Maybe stick to writing blogs…

What I do for a living is certainly unusual. Phrases I have heard over the years include… I couldn’t/wouldn’t do your job. Your job is my worst nightmare. And finally – a phrase which can be misconstrued by sensitive/creative types and particularly so if heard after a show… Why do you do your job? However,…

Not again!

This is an odd featured image but there is a good reason for it and which I will get to shortly. Because it has happened again. I received another email from Google explaining in google-speak that I have infringed their rules and that my Google AdSense account is suspended. This is irksome but it is…

A nod to the past…

Just to say that this week’s post has taken more effort than any other of its hundreds of predecessors 1000’s of blogs I have written, the reason for which will become clear. Because it drew such a large reaction last week, I thought to continue with my bird theme. Still with me? In the many…

The young and old…

For a blog to work, it needs to resonate. It isn’t worth writing something no one wants to read and important then to choose subjects that matter to readers. This can be a problem for me. I might be delusional but I am not stupid and I’m aware that many visitors to my site arrive…

My mission impossible…

How’s your reading? A silly question perhaps, given that you’re reading this. Therefore, I presume your reading is fine or at least, good enough to read my stuff. By reading, what I mean is, how is your reading out loud? Because it turns out that mine is not great. It might even be hopeless and…

Our Easter hunt…

Not to mention the dread and the creeping paranoia because our keys are access all areas and obviously, they aren’t just mislaid – someone has them. And not someone like you and I. You know, decent and honest types. No, some miscreant…

Who writes this drivel?

Time used to be precious – but not right now, with many of us now having an abundance of spare time. During lockdown – each day is a challenge to get through, before at last, evening arrives and which too many of us seem to be spending with Joe Exotic and which will do nothing…

In it together…

During an unproductive trip to a supermarket this morning and chatting with a young person who recognised me, I told her that ‘these are unprecedented times.’ She dwelled on my words and looked concerned as she stared at me and then asked whether I had ever experienced anything like this before? Er… My turn to…

This really happened…

If you’re going to write something that is worth reading – then you will need either a good imagination or be fortunate enough that things just happen to you that are worth chronicling. Sometimes I need to create a blog post. I mean actively look for inspiration during the week and hope that something occurs. And occasionally something happens to me and the post practically writes itself. Like the one you are about to read.
