Hello, Edinburgh…

Arriving in Edinburgh today to sunshine and blue skies – excited and ready (I think?)

En-route we stayed last night in Bamburgh, a place full of memories for Nikki and I because a mate of ours has a holiday cottage on the beach with a view to the castle on one of Britain’s most beautiful beaches.

It’s been a while,1996 in fact and to think what has happened since? Tom was just a few months old and we used Bamburgh as a base while I performed my show at the Edinburgh festival. Commuting back and forth then, from a gig to a new born, I can’t recall which journey to and fro was the more stressful?

And now here again with Paddy and Sam – neither of whom were even made during the last visit, let alone reared. Last night, we had a pub dinner, and a massive dog walk on the beach this morning. We pointed out the sites of our yesteryears to our boys, neither of whom appeared to be remotely interested or engaged – which are hopefully the last bored faces I see during this festival as I perform my seventh one-man show, The Glory Year.

Come along if you’re up here – be good to see you.

The Voodoo Rooms from the 4th at 6.15pm
