Returning to Edinburgh this year, I am currently porous – which is a pompous way of saying that I am open to all ideas for material and routines. An over-arching theme would be ideal but is unlikely, especially so against last year’s show, ‘Eclipsed’ which was so perfect.
To Hong Kong then for a gig. I’ve been here many times before to play the fab comedy club out here but this gig is a little different…
A quick post to say thank you to all the people who helped with the third event for The Brothers Trust. Tom headed to LA the day after the draw and today, the signed figurine of Tom was picked up from our house and is now on its way to Poland. Congratulations to Julia. Over ÂŁ15,000 was raised and Nikki now has the invidious task of apportioning this money to various causes.
On telly today, I was introduced as a comedian and dad of Spider-Man. This doesn’t rankle in the way that some people might think. It is something I get regularly and I understand why. And it would be odd to complain, given that I have written a book called Eclipsed and my current stand-up set leans heavily on Tom for some of my biggest and safest laughs. And as I say in this book, there is no disgrace in being Eclipsed by Spider-Man.
To the Langham Hotel in London this week to hook up again with James Dunn for an event to raise money for Debra. It was a The Great Chefs Dinner led ably and very generously by Michael Roux. We sat in an ante-room with James and his mum, Lesley – and with no time pressures,…
That flight home from a holiday…
Excitement to get home against the anxiety of getting back to life, work…
Have we been burgled? Burst pipes? Iron, left on?
I am not usually partial to irreverence, especially so from children and particularly when the children happen to be mine.
I think we all have a proclivity to feeling despondent. Everything being relative and all that. It might even be essential from time to time because it spurs us on to even greater heights?
Nikki and I went for lunch yesterday with some friends. Nothing very noteworthy about this aside from it being a Wednesday until I explain that we went for lunch in a prison.
England-bound today.
Seriously man, it’s been a freaking blast. Like, totally wild.
