Just to say that this week’s post has taken more effort than any other of its hundreds of predecessors 1000’s of blogs I have written, the reason for which will become clear. Because it drew such a large reaction last week, I thought to continue with my bird theme. Still with me? In the many…
Fame is something associated with the Holland’s. I had a brush with it. My eldest son has completely embraced it and with the advent of social media and the new qualifications and criteria for modern-day ‘celebrity’, it could be argued that other members of the Holland household are basking in some limelight too. One of…
During courtroom dramas, we are familiar with expert witnesses. People who are called to give their expert opinion, most usually on something medical or technical. I know a chap who makes his living as an expert witness on road collisions. I can’t imagine a court case where I would be called for my opinion. Indeed,…
Who knew that the trip to the supermarket would ever become a thing. ‘Okay everyone, you stay here. I’m going out. Good luck dad. The hunter/gatherer in us all is rekindled, albeit more gatherer than hunter these days. But nonetheless, intrepid people venturing out – some without masks – to get provisions for their family…
During an unproductive trip to a supermarket this morning and chatting with a young person who recognised me, I told her that ‘these are unprecedented times.’ She dwelled on my words and looked concerned as she stared at me and then asked whether I had ever experienced anything like this before? Er… My turn to…
What use is a blog if I can’t share with my readers things that I think they will enjoy. Because our time is finite, how much of it do we waste watching and reading things that are unworthy of our precious time? And especially so with films or movies. I have a theory that to…
Amidst the Corona hysteria gripping the world, it seems that hunkering down and staying away from crowds is the way to survive. Or at least this is how it is being reported; along with avoid travelling and in planes in particular with the close proximity and recycled air. A problem for me then, given that I write this post in Dubai – on my third day of a 10 day tour. I could have cancelled the gigs of course but for the fact that I would forego my fee. My career choice being the original zero hours contract. No sick pay. No contracts. No laughs, no gigs and no money!
To the uninitiated, a Comic Con really needs to be explained – because a convention for comics does not do it justice at all. Firstly, it is much broader than the comic world and encompasses all areas of entertainment from film, games, TV, sports, online, comics of course and everything to do with fame and…
If you’re going to write something that is worth reading – then you will need either a good imagination or be fortunate enough that things just happen to you that are worth chronicling. Sometimes I need to create a blog post. I mean actively look for inspiration during the week and hope that something occurs. And occasionally something happens to me and the post practically writes itself. Like the one you are about to read.
Nikki often accuses me of not laughing enough and if this is true, then I put it down to my profession. Perhaps, I am unwittingly studying why something is funny rather than just enjoying it. Maybe so – but I still push back of course. I state firmly that I laugh plenty – just not with you! Ouch. I am joking btw.
